Do you truly and actually have en edge in the market? This is non-negotiable. If you don't have an edge, an inherent advantage you look to press on a consistent basis, all you can do is gamble and hope for the best
Can you survive these violent markets long enough to actually make some money.... and more importantly, KEEP IT? This might sound controversial, but making money in the market? That's easy. That's not difficult. Everyone can make some money trading. But very, very, few people can hang on to their winnings without giving them all back to the casino.
Do you have the confidence and ability to follow through on Steps 1 and 2? Can you press your advantage regularly and size your risk in such a way you can survive the inevitable periods where even the best trades just don't work out?
In my experience having coached over a hundred professional traders I can say that all struggling traders are missing at least one of these 3 essential things, while consistently successful traders have all 3 of them.
